People who like to keep eye on this site have probably noticed that it has been a while since the last update,  despite the fact that I promised to do Javi Martinez and Ander Herrera reports.

I have watched the players, I have my opinion on them, but sadly I don’t have time to write it down. And current developments indicate that I still won’t have time in future to do that or to check new players.

Why? I go to university which takes a fair bit of my time, but last month I also started my work as part-time foreign football editor for and very soon I will hopefully start work for a agency named GT Scouting and consulting s.r.o. And on top of that I am going to have 3-4 training sessions per week as well as a game in my own amateur football career.

I might occasionally still use this blog to voice certain opinions of mine and I will remain active over Twitter, mostly ready to discuss about Italian football.

For me this site has been a success because my mission with it was to get work in the footballing circles as a scout/consultant. I hope to continue my footballing education and maybe in 10 years time I’ve helped some talented Estonian player get their big break and/or possibly moved on to some other position in football.

Thank you for reading,

Tanel Tursk.

Pick 10 defenders for me to follow

ANNOUNCEMENT: I’ve extended the voting until Monday 9 PM for now. To get more votes, and I can’t get started anyway just yet. Lot of new options added too.

Usually it is easy to see who the big attacking talents are, but it is much more difficult to assess defenders because you simply don’t notice a lot of them and an average fan wouldn’t watch a team play just for a defender. Yet the question which of the young/relatively unknown defenders is actually good enough for a top team is one that bugs me and possibly a lot of others too.

However this is exactly what I am going to do as I hope to cover at least 10 defenders with 2 months with a big scouting report. Who do I cover? This is for you to pick. I have given you a pre-set poll with some options, but to nominate your own player for voting, let me know in Twitter by sending me a tweet (possible blueprint: @TanelT “player name”,”club” #FootballsNewTalent ) or make a comment here. After all I’m bound to forget a lot of players. I will add them at first opportunity.

Whether you want to get a second opinion on the player of your favorite team/national team or want to know more about the target of your club… I’ll try to provide you this knowledge.

I will try to be covering the top 10 defenders who received most votes, IF I can see them play (either live or obtaining their games). If I decide to go above 10, then the extra players will be those who interest me most personally.

Before you nominate Thiago Silva’s, Vincent Kompany’s or Gerard Pique’s, I will reject such nominations. I am not looking for world-class players. They should be relatively young, but if someone is very good/interesting but aged around 25 and relatively unknown then I will still accept him. And some top club players like Phil Jones or the recent arrival Juan in Inter can also be voted for, just no-one very old or already amongst the best in the position.

I will only add players I believe to be suitable for report to the poll.

I have separated full-back and centre-back voting.

Change with Strootman report

After seeing Joe Allen play, I’ve decided to lower Kevin Strootman’s “If I had to pay 10 million euros” rating to 7 out of 10 as I thought Allen was worth 8 and he was more impressive than Strootman. After all I was between 7 and 8 with Strootman anyway.

Some (upcoming) content changes

I’ve decided that to give a better overview of player’s talent, I’ve decided to not rate players who haven’t had a real chance to prove himself by the “If I had to pay 10 million euros” system. They would get a low rating and this might draw some people away from looking at the report even if I think the player could become world class one day. For players like that, I’ve replaced it with a “Talent Rating”. The only player affected so far is Kevin Volland.

There will be also some changes with the about page to provide better explanation of different content in this website.

For future I plan to get my own domain and possibly create a bit of a brand for the website, but that is for when I have bit more money in the pocket.

Marco Reus will join Dortmund in summer

Marco Reus is actually Borussia Dortmund's own youth product. Picture taken from

Very surprising news have just come in from Germany.

Borussia Mönchengladbach and Borussia Dortmund have done a deal for Marco Reus almost completely under the radar. There was talks of Borussia interest in him but now everything is suddenly done and official. Must be noted that he’ll move in the summer! The amount of money being paid by BVB is 17,5 million euro’s.

The link to BVB newssite confirming this is HERE.

Amazing capture by Borussia Dortmund, a sign of real intent by them. Mario Götze and Marco Reus to play in same team – this is worth watching. This is a player that you’d expect to sign for Bayern or one of foreign big giants but BVB is showing that they can get the best talents in the world game as well.

We’re seeing a few teams come out in bigger leagues of European football who can push the big guns thanks to some good financial management and smart buying, not counting in teams who are getting big just because they have some huge investors behind them.

BVB is included in this bunch which I’d say also includes Tottenham, Udinese and Napoli. Although I’ve not yet seen the first two actually take an expensive talent that the big teams so closely follow but Napoli did manage to steal Eduardo Vargas from Chelsea and Inter.

However in case of Marco Reus one thing that definitely made him favor BVB ahead of everyone else is the fact that he is a product of their academy.

Welcome to “Football’s new talent”

This website is set up with the goal of concentrating on analysing players predicted to achieve big things in world of football and maybe possibly unearthing those who have not yet been found or finding players that might not reach the very top, but could become good enough to play for your average English Premier League, Italian Serie A, German Bundesliga, Spanish Liga BBVA side or for those from the Europe’s bit smaller leagues who constantly trouble the European top via Champions League or Europa League.

I set it up at the very end of 2011 and although I consider this website as a hobby for myself, I am more than happy to get help from you – whether it is you posting your reports or you giving information which might be missing from the report or you giving reccomendations on which player to look at next.

I hope you enjoy this website.
